A Just Transition towards a carbon-neutral future belongs to the most urgent environmental, social and economic issues of our times. Built upon a total of six country reports (Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden) on Just Transition written by their respective trade union confederations, a joint position paper will be supported by the involved Nordic and German trade union movements published on March 17th by the involved labour oganisations.
This publication not only brings together the main findings of the country reports, but also presents policy recommendations on how to manage the process to a carbon-free society.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung’s (FES) office for the Nordic Countries, the Nordic Council of Trade Unions (NFS) and the German Federation of Trade Unions (DGB) cordially invite you the presentation and discussion of the joint Nordic and German position paper “The Road Towards a Carbon-Free Society: A Nordic-German Trade Union Cooperation on Just Transition”.
We are pleased to announce that Tuula Haatainen (the Finnish Minister of Employment), Christiane Averbeck (Executive Director of the Climate Alliance Germany), Reiner Hoffmann (Chairman of the German DGB), Antti Palola (President of NFS and of the Finnish trade union confederation STTK), Jytte Guteland (MEP Member of the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety) and Bente Sorgenfrey (Vice President of FH Denmark and Vice President for ETUC) will give their insights on Just Transition.
The launch event addresses parliamentarians in different European regions, representatives of trade unions, industry stakeholders and experts as well as representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament as well as civil society representatives.
The country reports and the position paper (synthesis) will be published on this website at the same day of the event.
The event will be held in English. Please register here!
Please register here until March 10th 2021!
