The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. attaches great importance to the protection of your personal data. It strictly adheres to the legal provisions that regulate the admissibility of handling personal data – in particular, the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG, Bundesdatenschutzgesetz) – and has taken the necessary technical and organisational measures to secure data.

Automatically collected data

When you access this website, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung automatically collects and stores in its server log files the following information that is transmitted to us via your browser:

Personal user data, processing purposes and duration

The use of services offered by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (such as publications, events or e‑learning programmes) or the processing of enquiries (for instance, regarding scholarships) generally requires the provision of personal data (including contact details such as names, postal addresses, e‑mail addresses). The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is only permitted to collect, process and use this data within the narrowly defined legal framework (Article 6 (1) first sentence (b) and (a) GDPR).

Data may be passed on to processors, for instance, when it comes to organising video meetings. Although no plans exist to pass on the data to third parties, this cannot be completely ruled out.

If the legal requirements are met, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung will also use this data to inform you about the foundation’s other events, publications and activities (Article 6 (1) first sentence (a) and (f) GDPR). We will generally ask you for your consent; this also applies with regard to the use of web analysis tools. Data will only be transferred to third parties (such as public authorities) if we are obliged by law to do so or if you have given us your consent. In as far as the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung uses service providers to provide technical support for IT-supported work processes, this will be carried out in accordance with the provisions applicable to commissioned data processing (Article 28 GDPR).

If your consent is required, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung will take utmost care to ensure compliance with the content and formal requirements necessary for proper consent (Article 7 GDPR). You can at any time opt to retrieve the content of your declaration of consent. You can also withdraw your consent to the processing and use of your data at any time (Article 7 (3) GDPR); this also applies to the revocation of a declaration of consent that you had given to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung before 25 May 2018 (coming into effect of the GDPR). User account

This website offers you the option of creating your own user account so that you can manage your event and newsletter data on your own. We use your data to organise and render accounts for our events, to provide evidence to funding bodies and, with your consent, to inform you about other educational programmes of the FES. Accordingly, the legal basis is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR or Article 6 (1) (a) GDPR, respectively.
Your access data will also enable you to use our e‑learning systems when you register for an FES e‑learning course and to access the collaboration platform at cloud.fes.de.
Registration is voluntary and you can delete your user account at any time.

Accessibility

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung makes its website accessible. The IP address of the relevant computer is automatically transmitted to a service provider (Web Inclusion GmbH, www.eye-able.com) via services integrated into its websites when the pages are used (Article 6 (1) first sentence (f) GDPR). The IP address is used exclusively for the technical functionality of barrier-free use; any further processing by the service provider is excluded.

Cookies

The website uses so-called cookies in several instances. Cookies help us to make our service more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are stored by your browser on your computer. Most of the cookies we use are so-called ‘session cookies’. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung uses the service offered by Storytile GmbH (Gollierstraße 70, 80339 Munich, Germany) to create and publish live blogs. The storytile service uses cookies to recognise users of the live blog offerings. The cookies are used to store settings made via storytile and to provide the content of live blogs. The views are also statistically analysed in pseudonymised form. Your language settings are also permanently stored on your device. Please note that you can load third-party content via storytile. storytile may inform you accordingly if applicable.

Augmented reality through provider Zappar

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. offers you the opportunity to experience its own content in a so-called augmented reality environment. By scanning the QR code on the ‘Respekt-Cube’, this content will be displayed on the mobile phone screen in such a way that, on the one hand, the real environment is depicted by the mobile phone camera and, at the same time, media representations in this environment are shown on the mobile phone screen. The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. uses the framework of the provider Zappar Limited (hereinafter referred to as ‘Zappar’) for this purpose.

The framework is hosted on servers owned by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. Your personal data will be transmitted to the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. for the purpose of providing the content within the Respekt-Cube. The legal basis for this is Article 6 (1) (b) GDPR.

Your data will also be transmitted to Zappar when it is forwarded to the Respekt-Cube and hence to augmented reality. Zappar is independently responsible for the processing of your personal data within the meaning of Article 4 (7) GDPR. Online presence in social media

We are present online and on platforms within social networks and we process user data in this context in order to communicate with the users active there and to provide information about us. Notes regarding data processing procedures and services

With every interaction with our social media presences, the providers of the respective social network automatically collect and store personal data for market research and advertising purposes. It cannot be ruled out in this context that the data collected will also be processed outside the European Union in countries where the level of data protection does not comply with the GDPR. One of the consequences thereof can be that enforcing the rights of data subjects may become more difficult. We have no control over what data is collected and transmitted by the provider of the social network, to which third-party recipients the data is transmitted by the provider and how long the data will be stored.

Please note that you are responsible for your use of the social media pages and their functions. This applies in particular to the use of interactive functions (for instance, leaving comments, rating, sharing).

Measuring user interaction
Google provides us with aggregated statistics for our YouTube channels under the term ‘YouTube Analytics’, which are based on summarised user data. These reflect, among other things, the views of individual videos or in total, the playback time, the subscriber and/or visitor growth during a certain period and the interactions of viewers with our channel (such as likes, comments, shared content). These aggregated statistics no longer contain a personal reference, but can be restored on the basis of individual comments. These statistics enable us to gain information about how users interact with our YouTube channels and thereby evaluate and improve our content.  The legal basis for the use of our YouTube channels in general and the analytics statistics is a legitimate interest within the meaning of Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR. Our legitimate interests lie on the one hand in the use of YouTube as a channel for information about our organisation and on the other hand in better understanding the interests of visitors and subscribers to our YouTube channels in order to enable us to tailor our response to the interests of such specific target groups.

Your rights

Pursuant to Article 15 GDPR, you have the right to information about the personal data stored by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. about you.

Pursuant to Article 16 GDPR, you have the right to request rectification of inaccurate data concerning you.

You also have the right to erasure of the data concerning you under the conditions specified in Article 17 GDPR.

You have the right to restriction of processing pursuant to Article 18 GDPR, to data portability pursuant to Article 20 GDPR and to object pursuant to Article 21 GDPR. In as far as the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung e. V. uses your data to send you event information, publication offers or other information (direct advertising), you can object to the use of your data for these purposes at any time and without providing reasons for such objection; the data will then no longer be processed and used for these purposes (Article 21 (2), (3) GDPR).
