The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (Middle East Program) and the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) are pleased to invite you as participant to their joint conference “The Middle East in Disorder. Complex Dynamics, Recent Challenges and New Approaches”, from 24 to 25 June 2025 at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Berlin, with a public evening event organized by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung on 24 June 2025. The conference seeks to explore the tremendous security challenges and geopolitical shifts that have occurred in the region over the past two years. Focusing on the Middle East and Sudan, participants will debate dynamics of regional security, conflict de-escalation and resolution, roles of regional and international actors, and governance realities. In light of the new U.S. administration in office since January 2025 and a new German coalition government being formed in the spring of 2025, the conference discussions and outcomes also seek to impact the Middle East policies of the United States and Germany. Participants and discussants will therefore include renowned experts, diplomats, policy-makers and members of civil society from the Middle East region, U.S., Europe and Germany. Given your expertise on the Middle East, U.S. and European foreign politics we would be delighted if you could join us and honoured to welcome you at the conference.
