Dear Readers,

This is the second issue of our newsletter - and the first after we were declared an "undesirable organisation" in Russia on 1 March. This decision exposes Russian citizens who co-operate with the FES to the risk of criminal prosecution. We thus join a long list of organisations and media whose work is aimed at promoting democracy and which are also "undesirable" in today's Russia. Here you can find the statement of our management.

We strongly reject the decision of the Russian Prosecutor General. We stand in solidarity with all other organisations that have been declared undesirable, as well as with those who continue to work for democracy despite the unprecedented pressure. But we also understand the legal risks that interaction with us could pose to Russian nationals. If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter as a result of this development, please unsubscribe.
