Germany Reputation Radar 2026 – How the Global South assesses our foreign policy. Results of a population survey conducted in 30 countries
Study Presentation and Panel Discussion
The countries of the Global South are playing an increasingly important demographic, economic and political role in a rapidly changing global order. This is also reshaping the partnerships and priorities of German foreign policy. To successfully navigate these changes, it is important to understand how Germany and its foreign policy are perceived by people in India, Brazil, Kenya and other countries of the Global South.
To examine these and other questions empirically, the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA) conducted a population survey in 30 countries of the Global South. The findings provide valuable insights into how Germany is perceived in these countries, existing contacts and relationships, and how Germany is viewed in comparison with other countries.
On the occasion of the publication of the study, we cordially invite you to a presentation of the findings followed by a panel discussion. Together with, among others, Adis Ahmetovic, Member of the German Bundestag, foreign policy spokesperson of the SPD parliamentary group and Dr. Noha El-Mikawy, Former Dean of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP), American University in Cairo, we will discuss key findings and possible implications for German foreign policy and relations with countries of the Global South.
Martin Schulz, President of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, will open the event.
