- Personal Invitation -

Dear Sir or Madam,

We are pleased to invite you to an upcoming closed-door panel discussion, "Pathways and Opportunities for Mediterranean Diplomacy", co-organized by Diplomeds - The Council for Mediterranean Diplomacy and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung - Competence Center MENA Peace & Security. The event will take place on July 8, 2024 at 6:00 pm CET at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Hiroshimastr. 28, 10785 Berlin, Room 6.01.

Public discourse about Mediterranean diplomacy generally focuses on regional conflicts and tensions. Given some long-lasting regional rivalries and the current war in Gaza, this is well understood. However, Diplomeds' ongoing monitoring and analysis of developments in Mediterranean diplomacy highlights that trends of cooperation are also becoming highly prominent. Countries in the region are enhancing their bilateral relations, cooperating via minilateral and multilateral mechanisms, and are stepping up their involvement in intra-regional mediation efforts. Opportunities exist for further improvement in the region's diplomatic trajectory.

This panel discussion will feature Arab, Israeli, and European experts from Diplomeds, who will introduce trends, developments, and opportunities in Mediterranean diplomacy, and share their analysis of current events in the region. Chatham House Rules apply.

Following the panel discussion, there will be an exchange and a reception.

Please confirm your attendance by July 2nd by replying to this email (info.nahost[at]fes.de) and feel free to contact us with any questions or for further information.

This is a personal invitation and can only be transferred to an alternative representative of your organization if the original invitee cannot attend. Please update us if any changes occur.

We look forward to welcoming you on July 8th.
