Day of Progressive Economic Policy 2024 #twp24
Annual congress at the FES Berlin and online
Dear Reader,
The framework conditions for progressive economic policy in Germany, Europe, and the world have changed significantly.
The economic and social consequences of the pandemic and the Russian war against Ukraine have been mitigated in Germany with comprehensive rescue packages. However, the consequences of the war and the pandemic will continue to have an impact for the foreseeable future. The necessary acceleration of the transformation has come under pressure from rising inflation and interest rates as well as a restrictive budget policy.
In addition, geopolitical interests are playing an increasingly important role in international economic relations. The supply of raw materials, as well as the access to high technology and sales markets are taking on a new significance under these conditions. The economic and growth model of the European economies must adapt to the new environment.
How can progressive economic policy reduce social inequality? What distributive conflicts are we now facing? How can we actively shape the transition to climate neutrality and secure good jobs in the process?
Together with you, we want to find answers to these questions at the Day of Progressive Economic Policy on March 20, 2024 in Berlin and online to “think economics forward”.
