 ence Around the Globe?<br><br>On 24 April 2013\, the Rana Plaza building c
 ollapsed. More than 1\,100 people lost their lives\; at least twice as man
 y were severely wounded. The tragedy triggered a long-overdue internationa
 l debate on inhuman working conditions\, exploitation\, and the responsibi
 lity of corporations and governments. <br>Ten years after the disaster\, m
 uch has changed both in Bangladesh and around the world. Thanks to the Ban
 gladesh ACCORD\, numerous factories in the entire country have become safe
 r and now count among the most modern ones in the entire textile industry.
  After intense debates\, Pakistan followed Bangladesh’s example and adop
 ted an ACCORD of its own. In 2017\, France was the first European country 
 to adopt comprehensive legislation on corporate due diligence obligations 
 in the field of human rights. In Germany\, the Act on Corporate Due Dilige
 nce Obligations in Supply Chains entered into force earlier this year. At 
 the European level\, debates on an EU Supply Chain Act are currently ongoi
 ng. <br>We would like to use this momentum to discuss the following questi
 ons with invited experts from politics\, business\, the trade union moveme
 nt\, and civil society – and with you.<br><br>•Where does Bangladesh s
 tand today? What has been achieved\, what challenges remain?<br>•Did pol
 icymakers and businesses at the international level draw the right conclus
 ions from Rana Plaza?<br>•What options and how much protection do existi
 ng supply chain laws really provide? <br>•What elements must an EU Suppl
 y Chain Act for companies include if it is to protect human rights and the
  environment at a global level?<br><br>We look forward to discussing these

 rgfaltspflicht weltweit?<br><br>Am 24. April 2013 stürzte der Gebäudekom
 plex Rana Plaza ein. Über 1100 Menschen starben und mindestens doppelt so
  viele wurden schwer verletzt. In Rana Plaza ließen deutsche\, europäisc
 he und US-amerikanische Unternehmen produzieren. Die Tragödie stieß inte
 rnational eine längst überfällige Debatte über unmenschliche Arbeitsbe
 dingungen\, Ausbeutung und Verantwortlichkeiten von Unternehmen und Staate
 n an. <br>10 Jahre nach der Katastrophe hat sich einiges in Bangladesch un
 d weltweit getan. Dank des bangladeschischen ACCORDs sind zahlreiche Fabri
 ken im Land sicherer geworden und zählen heute zu den modernsten in der T
 extilindustrie. Nach intensiven Ringen gibt es nun auch in Pakistan einen 
 ACCORD. 2017 verabschiedete Frankreich als erstes europäisches Land eine 
 umfassende Gesetzgebung zur menschenrechtlichen Sorgfaltspflicht von Unter
 nehmen. Auch in Deutschland gilt seit diesem Jahr das Lieferkettensorgfalt
 spflichtengesetz. Und in Europa wird derzeit über die Einführung eines E
 U-Lieferkettengesetz diskutiert.<br>Wir möchten diese Entwicklungen zum A
 nlass nehmen und folgende Fragen mit unseren geladenen Expert_innen aus Po
 litik\, Wirtschaft\, Gewerkschaften und Zivilgesellschaft sowie Ihnen disk
 utieren:<br><br>•Wo steht Bangladesch heute? Welche Erfolge und welche H
 erausforderungen gibt es?<br>•Wurden die richtigen internationalen Konse
 quenzen seitens Politik und Wirtschaft aus Rana Plaza gezogen?<br>•Welch
 e Möglichkeiten und welchen Schutz bieten bereits existierende Lieferkett
 engesetze tatsächlich?  <br>•Und wie muss ein EU-Lieferkettengesetz fü
 r Unternehmen aussehen\, damit es Menschenrechte und Umwelt weltweit schü
 tzt?<br><br>Wir freuen uns diese und weitere Fragen mit Ihnen am 10. Mai 2
