Demokratische Bildung auf Englisch

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

suddenly living in another country means adjusting to a lot of changes. Some things work differently than at home, appear outlandish even. You have more rights here than in many Arabic countries. Nevertheless, you have probably encountered problems when communicating with administrative offices, finding an apartment or a job.
Germany isn't perfect. But Germany is a democratic country where constitutional principles rule. Every citizen has inalienable rights, which he or she can contend for in court if necessary. The media seeks a high level of independence and controls the government. Now, how do I know, how life in Germany works? What are the social values of this society? What does democracy mean to me and how can I actively participate?

It's easy - The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), a foundation that represents democratic values and advocates social justice, wants to support you in finding your way and present to you, how German democracy works. We're independent and work for the common good.

We as FES offer you seminars in your own language in which you can learn more about e. g. what the German constitution guarantees, how elections are organised or how you can take part in society without a German passport, too. Our interactive approach as well as lots of opportunities for you to shape the contents yourself make our seminars both informative and entertaining. We're also trying to provide you with access to parliamentarians and in the end, we certify your participation with a certificate in Arabic and German.

The next seminar takes place:
Date: 19 and 20 November 2018, 9:00am to 5:00pm (on both days)
Place: _______________________________________________________
Instructor: Dr. Chadi Bahouth (Journalist, author & political scientist)

The participation and catering on both seminar days is free of charge. Transport costs cannot be covered.

We are looking forward to welcoming you, your friends and acquaintances on that day. Please send us an email with your name to: anmeldung.potsdam@fes.de

With kind regards
Katrin Wuschansky
