Interactive Dialogue with former Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano on Peace and Development in Southern Africa

Since independence, the Southern African region has been referred to as one of the most peaceful as well as economically prosperous parts of the continent. Significant progress has been made in overcoming the colonial legacies, Apartheid in South Africa and regional destabilisation.
Despite these successes, Southern Africa today faces critical challenges in fulfilling the promises of the liberation era.
The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and its partners from the Southern African Defense and Security Management Network (SADSEM) invited former Mozambican President Joaquim Chissano to a public dialogue to talk about the challenges that he sees for deepening regional integration, held in Maputo, Mozambique, on 27th October 2016.
