Marian Hawling, born in Poland, resisted National Socialist Germany actively in various European countries. After being arrested, he was imprisoned in several concentration camps, among them Neuengamme in Hamburg. He not only survived the camp, but also the bombing of the prisoners ship Cap Arcona in Lübeck Bay on May 3, 1945. Later he emigrated to Australia, where he still lives, and did not talk about his imprisonment for decades, not even with his loved ones.

Together with his wife Elizabeth and son Mark Marian Hawling will talk about why it took him so long to speak openly about his life during National Socialism and why he decided to finally pass on the memory.
