 ating international attention. Lebanon has also become part of the conflic
 t – with devastating consequences for the civilian population.\n\nThe po
 litical\, social\, and humanitarian effects of the escalation are dramatic
 . Israel's ongoing military operations have affected large parts of the co
 untry\, destroyed infrastructure\, and forced around a quarter of the popu
 lation to flee. In a country that has already been marked by a deep econom
 ic and institutional crisis for years\, the war is exacerbating the humani
 tarian situation to an unbearable degree.\n\nAt the same time\, the Lebane
 se state faces a fundamental political dilemma. While international expect
 ations are focused on the disarmament of Hezbollah\, the ongoing military 
 attacks from Israel weaken already fragile state structures and exacerbate
  political tensions in the country.\n\n   -  What are the consequences of 
 this escalation for society and the state in Lebanon?\n    - What scenario
