This collection is the result of yet another joint project by two sections of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, those for promotion of women and of media and communication. These are major areas of the Foundation's international development cooperation. ... Since 1993 the Foundation has operated a special programme to prepare for the World Women's Conference in Beijing in 1995. It is part of that programme. We greatly hope that this will stimulate more ideas, further increase sensitivity to the issues and fructify a discussion which is enormously important to us politically and in terms of human rights.
