Internships at the Global Policy and Development Department

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung's Global Policy and Development Department in Berlin offers three-month internships to interested students. As a rule, applications require six months for processing. The application deadline for internships is:

  • 31 August the previous year for January-April internships
  • 30 November the previous year for April-June internships
  • July-August: no internships
  • 30 April for September-December internships

Applicants are informed, at the latest, within two months or so of the application deadline. An expense allowance is paid for the duration of the internship. Regarding the period from April to June 2012 the internship has already been allocated.

Conditions

  • Advanced study in social science, economics or law (from the fifth semester, but studies not yet completed)
  • Interest in our fields of activity and the work of a political foundation
  • Good to excellent English language skills
  • Commitment to political and social issues
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communication skills and self-reliance
  • Fluency in German is mandatory as is the application in German

Tasks and Type of Duties

All interns are supervised individually and receive a training schedule at the beginning of their internship. This includes:

  • Substantive and organisational involvement in current political consultation projects
  • Participation in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of specialist events
  • Internet research
  • Participation in the department's everyday activities
