FES & ACP-EU
WelcomeTowards a democratic and social partnership
In the spirit of democracy and pluralism, the FES seeks to contribute to fruitful and fair relations between Africa and the European Union. It aims to promote international dialogue and cooperation. The world trading system and the implementation of the Cotonou Agreement are major challenges for both African governments and regional non-governmental organizations. Therefore, the FES endeavors to support African stakeholders to actively shape the process.
Access to quality information is the pre-requisite for public scrutiny, an enlightened political understanding and informed decision-making. For that reason, this website is intended to serve as an up-to-date information platform for citizens, politicians and experts about both the ACP-EU process and about the involvement of the FES.
For more than 40 years, the FES has gained extensive experience in dealing with state and non-state actors in Africa. Its partners are trade unions, political parties, parliaments, research institutes, advocacy groups, NGOs, the media and governmental institutions. The cooperation extends from human rights, labour relations, social market economy and media policy to many other fields of concern relating to Cotonou Agreement.
In order to make an effective partnership with Africa possible, the FES does not only have offices in several EU member states, but also disposes of 19 offices in Sub-Saharan Africa. Read more...
